Tandem Health Direct Primary Care aims to deliver high quality primary care services without the headaches of insurance. For a flat monthly fee, you get direct access to your primary care doctor. No copays, no deductibles, no hidden costs.
Why Choose Direct Primary Care?
Convenience
Get direct access to your primary care doctor via text, phone, or email. No calling an answering service or long waits for a response.
30 to 60 minute appointments - Take the time to have all your questions and concerns addressed.
Short term medications dispensed at your appointment. Common medications are available in office (antibiotics, steroids, steroid creams, etc) to save you an extra trip to the pharmacy.
Urgent and after hour appointments
Home visits available (may incur an additional fee)
Cost Transparency
Your monthly fee covers all office visits, phone calls, messages, video calls. Although costs for labs, imaging, and medications are not included in your membership, we do offer low cost, cash-pay options through selected vendors. We will clearly inform you of the cost of these-cash pay services prior to ordering them. No surprise bills in your mail 2 months later.
Better Medicine
It’s just better practice of medicine. Convenient access to primary care and cost transparency is generally lacking in traditional practices leading to segmented care or fear of accessing care when you need it.
This type of practice allows me to focus on a smaller number of patients and deliver personalized medical care.

After residency, I worked as a hospitalist (seeing patients admitted into the hospital) for the past 7 years at Cleveland Clinic, Emory, and, locally, Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center. In 2024, I was honored to receive the annual Johns Hopkins Clinical Collaboration and Teamwork Award along with the 4P nursing team for improving patient experience on the unit. The highest praise I received as a hospitalist is when patients ask me to be their primary care doctor. I’ve decided it’s time to transition to primary care, where I can develop rewarding, long-lasting doctor-patient relationships. I believe the Direct Primary Care model allows me to practice the highest quality of primary care medicine.
I live in Howard County with my wife who is also a physician and our bossy 4 year old son. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, roasting my own coffee, and painting.
FAQs
How does Direct Primary Care (DPC) work?
You enroll in my service and get direct access to me - your primary care doctor- via text/phone/telemedicine/in person appointments. Transparent pricing. No insurance, no co-pays, no hidden fees or surprise bills months later.
What’s the difference between DPC and Concierge Medicine?
There is no official delineation. Generally, DPC fees are lower than concierge fees. DPC usually do not take insurance whereas concierge may bill insurance on top of having an annual retainer fee.
How much does it cost?
$100 per month for adults 16-49 years old.
$150 per month for adults 50+ years old.
Fees are billed monthly.
This includes all correspondence (text/email/phone calls/telemedicine) and all in office appointments. One in-home appointment per year included (if medically necessary). Additional in-home visits incur an additional fee.
What about lab work, medications, imaging and consultants?
If you have insurance, we can order those through your insurance.
If you don’t have insurance or if you don’t want to go through your insurance due to high deductibles/copays, we can get cash-pay pricing - which can sometimes be cheaper than insurance copays!
Can I use HSA to pay for your service?
Patients have had success using HSA to pay for services with other DPC doctors in the past, and as of Jan 2026, legislation has officially clarified that HSA can normally be used to pay for DPC service fees. Consult with your employee benefits coordinator or your CPA as to whether, and to what extent you can use HSA funds.
Do you see Medicare patients?
Yes! I can provide my services at my rates without billing Medicare. You can still use Medicare for all other services.
How do you envision your practice?
My goal is to provide flexible in person appointments but your medical care does not end with just the appointment. You can text me with any concerns and we can address it via phone call or we can schedule you for another appointment. I will be reachable 8am to 9pm by text (preferred) or phone, and urgent appointments are available within 48 hours. Of course, if there is a true emergency, you should still utilize 911 and go to the nearest Emergency Department.
Would I be a good fit for this type of practice?
Everyone’s needs are different. Some people who would benefit are:
Patients who have 1 or more chronic conditions that need closer attention to avoid urgent care or ER visits
Patients without insurance or who have high deductible health plans where this type of practice may actually save money and provide better care
Patients who prefer a strong doctor-patient relationship and the convenience of being able to contact their doctor without jumping through hoops.
